Insect Plague 5e (5th Edition) Spell In DnD Spells
A minimum of one other swarm must be nearby (that is, the swarms must fill one contiguous area) when the Insect Plague is summoned. You’ll summon the wasp swarms so they can share the world with other creatures. Each swarm will attack any creatures it comes across.s. After being summoned, the swarms are stationary and won’t pursue creatures who flee. It has been nerfed to the point of being useless for its level. Use it as a terrorist thing on the most exits from the open-air market or something, indirectly on PCs.
Swarms of biting locusts fill a 20-foot-radius sphere, centered to some extent within your range. This sphere extends in all directions. Throughout the duration, the Sphere remains and its area is lightly veiled. Difficult terrain covers the sphere’s surface. Each creature in the world must make a Constitution saving throw when the world appears. On a failed save, a creature takes 4d10 piercing damage, or half as much damage on a successful one. Additionally, the creature must make this saving throw when it enters the spell’s area for the first time on a turn or when it ends its turn there.

Cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, and the damage increases by 1d10 for every slot level above 5th. Summoned insects covered the world of effect, biting and stinging every creature relentlessly, reducing visibility to 10 feet (3 meters), and preventing any spellcasting. Armor did not protect, and invisibility was useless to avoid the swarms. Things with failing morale and small creatures would move at top speed in a random direction until they were well away from the plague.
The insects didn’t pursue fleeing targets, but remained in the spot where they were summoned for the duration of the spell. Insects could be driven away by large fires and smoke, or by strong winds. However, a blast from a fireball would only clear a small section.
Before the
Spell plague, newer versions of this spell required a priest’s divine focus or holy symbol in addition to verbal and physical components. Due to the Second Sundering, earlier versions also required a pinch of sugar, a couple of grains, and a little fat.
There is a swarm of insects that forms an excellent cloud. Each round, creatures within the area suffer one point of damage. Within the area, vision is obscured, limiting it to 3′′. Creatures with 2 HD or fewer flee during a line until they are 24 inches from the cloud. For creatures with fewer than five HD, a morale check prevents them from fleeing. After they arrive, the swarm does not move.
Then, while holding the staff, you’ll use an action and expend 1 charge to cause a swarm of harmless flying insects to appear in a 30-foot radius around you. The insects remain for 10 minutes, obscuring the world for all creatures except you. As the Insect Plague moves with you, it stays focused on you. Winds of at least 10 miles per hour disperse the swarm and end the effect.
